প্রাচীন সপ্তাশ্চর্য

প্রকৃতির অদ্ভুত সব সৃষ্টি আর মানুষের বিচিত্র খেয়ালে পৃথিবী সব সময়ের জন্যই সুন্দর। মানুষ পৃথিবীতে যে সমস্ত আশ্চর্য রহস্যঘেরা জিনিস তৈরি করেছে তার অনেকগুলোই আজ আর নেই। এর কোনোটা ধ্বংস হয়ে গেছে আবার কোনোটাকে মানুষ নিজেই ধ্বংস করেছে। প্রাচীন এই সপ্তাশ্চর্য নিয়ে লিখেছেন প্রাঞ্জল সেলিম
গিজার পিরামিড
মরুভূমির একটি দেশ—মিশর। প্রাচীনকালে এই মিশরেই গড়ে উঠেছিল এক উন্নততর সভ্যতা। প্রাচীন মিশরে ফারাও রাজবংশের রাজারা একসময় রাজত্ব করতেন। সে সময়ে মিশরের মানুষেরা বেশ কিছু অদ্ভুত বিষয়ে বিশ্বাস করত। তারা বিশ্বাস করত, পৃথিবীতে মানুষের বাস খুব স্বল্প সময়ের জন্য, আর মৃত্যুর পরবর্তী জীবন হলো অনন্ত সুখের। তাদের বিশ্বাস ছিল, মৃত্যুর পর তাদের মৃতদেহ যদি অক্ষত অবস্থায় সংরক্ষণ করা হয়, তাহলে তারা পরলোকে অনন্ত শান্তির জীবন যাপন করতে পারবে।
ব্যাবিলনের শূন্য উদ্যান
যেকোনো বাগানে গিয়ে বিভিন্ন রঙের ফুল, প্রজাপতি এসব দেখতে কার না ভালো লাগে! আর বাগানটি যদি হয় মাটি থেকে উঁচুতে, অনেকটা উপরে, তাহলে তো কথাই নেই! এ রকমই একটি বাগান হলো ব্যাবিলনের শূন্য উদ্যান। আমরা সবাই জানি ইরাক দেশটির অধিকাংশ জুড়েই রয়েছে মরুভূমি। অনেক দিন আগে এই দেশেই ব্যাবিলন নামে একটি শহর ছিল। এ শহরটি গড়ে উঠেছিল ইউফ্রেটিস নদীর তীরে। এই বাগানটি অনেক আগেই ধ্বংস হয়ে গিয়েছে। কয়েক বছর আগে কিছু বিজ্ঞানী ব্যাবিলনের এই উদ্যানটির কিছু ভাঙা দেয়াল খুঁজে পেয়েছেন বলে দাবি করেছেন।
আর্টেমিসের মন্দির
প্রাচীন যুগে গ্রিস এবং রোমের মানুষরা বিভিন্ন দেব-দেবীর পূজা করত।
প্রাচীন গ্রিসের এক দেবীর নাম ছিল—আর্টেমিস। রোমানরা আবার তাকে বলত দেবী
ডায়ানা। দেবী আর্টেমিস বা ডায়ানা ছিলেন শিকারের দেবী। সেই যুগে বেশিরভাগ
মানুষ শিকার করেই জীবিকা নির্বাহ করত বলে দেবী আর্টেমিসের গুরুত্ব ছিল
অনেক। এজন্যই গ্রিকরা খ্রিস্টপূর্ব ৮০০ অব্দে ইফিসাস নগরীতে দেবী
আর্টেমিসের মন্দির নির্মাণ করে। এই ইফিসাস নগরীটি বর্তমানে আমাদের কাছে
পরিচিত তুরস্ক হিসেবে। তৈরি হবার পর থেকে বহুবার এই মন্দিরটি ধ্বংস হয়ে
যায়। আবার প্রতিবারই নতুন করে এটি গড়ে তোলা হয় ঠিক সেই এক জায়গাতেই।
অলিম্পিয়ার জিউসের মূর্তি
গ্রিকদের প্রধান দেবতার নাম জিউস। তিনি সব দেব-দেবীর তুলনায় অনেক বেশি
শক্তিশালী। খ্রিস্টপূর্ব ৪৩৫ অব্দে গ্রিকরা অলিম্পিয়া নগরীতে মন্দির
নির্মাণ করে সেখানে দেবতা জিউসের একটি বিশাল মূর্তি স্থাপন করে। এটি
উচ্চতায় ছিল প্রায় ৪০ ফুট। এই বিশাল মূর্তিটি দেখতেও ছিল অসাধারণ।
মূর্তিটির বিশালতা ও সৌন্দর্যের কারণেই এটি প্রাচীন পৃথিবীর আশ্চর্যগুলোর
মধ্যে একটি। জিউসের মন্দির তৈরির আরও একটি বিশেষ উদ্দেশ্য ছিল— অলিম্পিক।
পৃথিবীর বিশাল এই খেলার আসরটিকে দেবতা জিউসের আশীর্বাদপুষ্ট করতেই জিউসের
এই বিশাল মূর্তিটি তৈরি করা হয়েছিল। তবে বর্তমানে মূর্তিটির খুব সামান্য
অংশই অবশিষ্ট আছে।রোডসের মূর্তি
খ্রিস্টপূর্ব ২২৯ অব্দে এক ভূমিকম্পে এটি ধ্বংস হয়ে যায়। পরবর্তীতে আর সংস্কার করা হয়নি। এই আশ্চর্য মূর্তিটি শুধু মানুষদের বিস্মিতই করেনি, স্থাপত্যবিদদেরও অনুপ্রেরণা দিয়েছিল।
আলেকজান্দ্রিয়ার বাতিঘর
সমুদ্রের তীরে পাহাড় বা কোনো টাওয়ারের উপর বাতিঘর তৈরি করা হয়। প্রাচীনকালে উঁচু কোনো জায়গায় কাঠ পুড়িয়ে আলো তৈরি করে বাতিঘর নির্মাণ করা হতো। ভূমধ্যসাগরের উপকূলে মিশরের ফারোস নামের এক দ্বীপ ছিল। সেখানে আলেকজান্দ্রিয়ার একটি বিখ্যাত জাহাজঘাটায় খ্রিস্টপূর্ব ২৯০ অব্দে একটি বিশাল বাতিঘর নির্মিত হয়। বাতিঘরটির উচ্চতা ছিল প্রায় ৩০০ ফুট।
হ্যালিকারনেসাসের সমাধি মন্দির
এশিয়া মাইনরের ছোট্ট একটি রাজ্য, রাজা মোসালাস তা শাসন করতেন। সেই রাজ্যের
রাজধানীর নাম ছিল হ্যালিকারনেসাস। রাজা মোসালাসের স্ত্রী ছিলেন রানি
আর্টেমিসিয়া। তিনি তৈরি করেন পৃথিবীর মধ্যে সবচেয়ে চমকপ্রদ স্মৃতিসৌধটি।
সম্পূর্ণ মার্বেল পাথরের তৈরি এই স্মৃতিসৌধটি ছিল খুবই সুন্দর ও আকর্ষণীয়।
অনেক দূরদূরান্ত থেকে মানুষ এই আশ্চর্য স্মৃতিসৌধটি এক পলক দেখার জন্য
আসতেন। এই সমাধিটি উচ্চতায় ছিল প্রায় ১৩৫ ফুট। এর উপরের দিকে মোট ৩৬টি
স্তম্ভ ছিল। দুটি স্তম্ভের মাঝে একটি করে মূর্তি ছিল। আর সমাধিটির ছাদটি
ছিল পিরামিড আকৃতির। সম্ভবত কোনো বড় ধরনের ভূমিকম্পে এটি ধ্বংস হয়ে
গিয়েছিল। বর্তমানে স্মৃতিসৌধটির মাত্র কয়েকটি টুকরো অবশিষ্ট আছে।
